On the 2nd April 2020, the WEPHREN 2020 Scientific Committee convened and made the decision that unfortunately the WEPHREN conference will be postponed until 2021 given the current situation with COVID-19.
The Committee reflected on the importance of enabling people in the field to firstly deal with the current operational response. Postponement will facilitate our delegates to reflect on the learning from the COVID-19 response, and hopefully make for a stronger opportunity to bring this learning to an international platform.
One of WEPHREN’s central ambition has been to involve people in prison in all its work and again, the current context does not enable this.
The Committee also recognised the importance of face to face meetings in building networks, co-operation and support in the field. Although we will be exploring some digital opportunities in the coming months, we maintain the need and importance of having a conference where we can all come together.
We will be in touch over the coming months regarding new dates for the conference, a registration website and an abstract submission process.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Keep safe and healthy, we hope to see you in London in 2021.
