The Collaborating Centre for Prison Health and Education (CCPHE) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada is a grant-funded organization that primarily conducts participatory research with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals.
During a recent project, experiences of formerly incarcerated people with healthcare providers were identified as a significant area for improvement. With input from family physicians, formerly incarcerated people, community partners, and subject matter experts, CCPHE has developed a guideline resource for family physicians working with formerly incarcerated people in a community setting (after release from custody).
