The Collaborating Centre for Prison Health and Education (CCPHE) at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada is a grant-funded organization that primarily conducts participatory research with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals.
CCPHE in consultation with a variety of stakeholders to support mothers in keeping their children with them inside while serving their sentence have produced mother-child unit guidelines. These guidelines were utilized in the creation of a mother-child unit at the provincial women’s prison in BC.
