"Mental Wellbeing Among People in Prison in Scotland", has just been published. It is, to our knowledge, the first large scale study of mental wellbeing in a prison population. The results show that wellbeing in those in prison is significantly lower than that if the general population, even when comparing with those from areas of greater deprivation. Mental wellbeing was particularly low for those on remand and with a history of multiple sentences.
