Work following incarceration: Experiences of and impacts for ex-offenders and their (potential) employers
Supervisors: Dr Lia Demou, Dr Helen Sweeting
Although programmes/organisations exist to support to ex-offenders in finding work when released from prison, this group faces more barriers and challenges to entering the labour market than those who have never offended due to factors such as low educational/skills levels and employer concerns. The objectives of this studentship would be to investigate: (ex)-offender experiences of finding and being in work and the impacts of these; and employer perspectives on the work experiences of ex-offenders. The methodology may include interviews/focus groups with prisoners close to/following prison release, and representatives from employers and organisations that support ex-offenders to understand their experiences around labour market entry.
Deadline 24th February
